RECO stands for the Real Estate Council of Ontario. RECO is the administrative authority and not-for-profit federally incorporated corporation set up to administer REBBA (the Real Estate Business Brokers Act). Although RECO maintains close ties with the provincial government and is bound by certain legislation and agreements with the government, RECO is not part of the Crown in the Province of Ontario. A Board of Directors that, at the present time, is composed of three Directors who are government appointees and nine other directors (who are elected by those members of RECO who are eligible to vote) run RECO. The corporate by-laws of RECO (which include the Code of Ethics and the Complaints Compliance Discipline "CCD" process) govern how the corporation and its members must conduct themselves.
